Get it in the Diary

Well what can I say about this beautiful, fun and enjoyable event? The Game Fair is a must for anyone interested in country pursuits; whether that’s hunting, fishing or, like me, shooting.

The Game Fair is a definite for me every year. It is the first thing to go in the diary and the rest of my social calendar is planned around it!

This year it was held at the beautiful Hatfield House in Hertfordshire; however to me it could be in the middle of a field as I don’t go to the Game Fair for the beautiful scenery!

Being a BASC member I got my ticket free this year. Another great reason to become a member if you aren’t one already. Check out more about BASC here

I had spent all week planning what I would do. I could only make it for one day this year so there was a lot to cram in! The plan was as follows –

  1. Shoot the 50 bird competition
  2. Meet up at Emma Brown Tweed for our Shaping up for Tweed 2017 catch up
  3. Shopping, shopping and more shopping
  4. Eat pheasant wraps from the Game Chef
  5. Drink plenty of alcohol

In my typical style I got carried away with the shopping and catching up with friends that time just ran away with me. I didn’t get around to taking part in the shooting, but I certainly ticked everything else off the list! The shopping was most definitely the highlight for me; I spend so much of my time following amazing new brands on social media that to finally meet them was just fantastic. I made some great new friends including the incredibly talented Olivia Tullett of OJT Designs. Do check out her unbelievable designs – she is one clever lady!

I bought more than intended, but it’s only a once a year event and the products on offer are just too good to miss. This year will be my first year of shooting Game so I wanted to get a few new outfits sorted for in the field. I think its safe to say I have that covered!

I of course had to make a stop at the wonderful Spanish Boot Company stand. They had so many amazing boots on display I was in heaven. I proceeded to spend at least 30 minutes trying on the different designs and making a list of must haves. There are a lot on the list I can tell you!

Thank you Game Fair 2017 for being so incredible and thank you to all of the people who make this event what it is. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
